An Interview with Pauline Carey

VV: How long have you been a TIR trainer?

Pauline: I completed my apprenticeship in July 2007. I began my apprenticeship in 2006 with my wonderful mentor and friend, Senior Advanced Trainer, Brian Grimes. After Brian's sudden death in March 2007, I was fortunate to meet and work under Nancy Day, who is another extraordinary Senior Advanced Trainer. I believe I was lucky to learn from two such gifted trainers, and am also fortunate enough to have had my initial TIR-W training with Senior Advanced Trainer and Author of 'Traumatic Incident Reduction', Gerald French.

VV: What inspired you to become a TIR trainer?

Pauline: The desire to contribute to keeping Brian's dream alive. By this I mean the extraordinary work of Brian Grimes, in enhancing the spiritual, emotional and physical wellbeing of people in BC, by teaching Metapsychology and being a shining example of the joy of living according to the Rules of Facilitation and the Communications Exercises.

VV: What do you find rewarding about it?

Pauline: The excitement of being a channel for sharing the wonderful clinical tools of TIR and Life Stress Reduction. Being able to help people on a much larger scale than I can as a private practitioner. Being continuously inspired by the underlying philosophy and fundamental wisdom of Metapsychology which captures and reveals the goodness within each of us.

VV: Are you willing to travel to deliver training, if so under what conditions?

Pauline: I am willing to travel, however my focus will be on trainings within and close to BC.

VV: Do you have a private practice?

Pauline: Yes, and I have used TIR and LSR almost exclusively in my practice since October 2005. I have been in private practice on and off during the past 23 years, and my greatest success - and satisfaction - has been using TIR and LSR. My practice serves adults and teens, with presenting problems such as trauma, unwanted negative emotions, and relationship difficulties.

VV: Besides TIR, what other things are you interested in?

Pauline: Living a healthy and "green" lifestyle; supporting humanitarian and environmentally responsible endeavours; spending quality time with family and friends; spiritual growth.

VV: Describe your professional background?

Pauline: I have a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, and am a Registered Clinical Counsellor here in B.C. My professional background is in private clinical practice, management consulting to businesses, teaching psychology and personnel management to undergraduate students at a private university college, managing a clinical counseling team in a non-profit society, career and EAP counseling, and providing psychological assessment services to a variety of organizations. I also served as a Regional Vice President of the Board of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.

VV: What other courses are you currently teaching?

Pauline: Currently, all my teaching energy is focused on TIR, LSR, and Expanded Applications. In the past I have taught workshops on Communication Skills, Marriage Enrichment, Coping with Depression, and Anger Management.
