Internship & Applied Metapsychology International Certification/Accreditation
You've taken one or more TIR and Life Stress Reduction Workshops...

Why Complete an Internship: Either toward Certification/Accreditation by AMI or for the inherent value of the Internship itself?
A newly trained facilitator goes into session with the techniques, the Rules of Facilitation, enhanced communication skills, and a basic understanding of how and why the techniques they are using work, but is still a novice at applying the techniques.
Supervision by a Certified/Accredited Trainer during an internship provides ongoing feedback, help with case plans to meet the needs of your individual viewers, and the opportunity to use and improve your skills. After a fair amount of supervised session experience, the novice facilitator may quickly move from novice to advanced beginner, where you begin to use overall strategies instead of just rules. For example, you may gain certainty in assessing ego strength, environmental distractions, and knowing when to get more data before proceeding with TIR. After an internship, a facilitator should be able to deliver consistently successful sessions.
Internships are a good way to quickly advance from novice to advanced beginner, and then, with further experience, to become competent, proficient, and, finally, expert. Feedback has shown that compassion fatigue, often experienced by those in the helping professions, is not an issue for an expert facilitator because sessions almost always go to a satisfying end point for the viewer, enabling the facilitator to know each session that progress has been made.
Internships are offered by most Certified/Accredited Trainers. An internship includes session-by-session supervision (technical direction) as needed and enhances a facilitator's ability to follow the structured session protocol that is essential in the success of an Applied Metapsychology sessions. A technical director can help to repair a difficult session, while at the same time giving the facilitator any additional data needed in order to be successful in future sessions. This arrangement benefits the facilitator, who learns from mistakes, and the viewer (client), whose difficulty is overcome.
The rewards of interning include increased certainty in using your tools, a deeper understanding of the basics of Applied Metapsychology, and even better and faster results for your clients.
The Applied Metapsychology International Certification/Accreditation Program
*The word "certification" has different meanings in different parts of the world. In the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth countries, "accreditation" has the equivalent meaning to the word "certification" in North America. As we are an international organization we include the use of both words, to represent the meaning they have in different locations and cultures. An individual representing themselves as such may then use the word which applies in their location.
Certification/Accreditation by AMI is a recognition of an individuals having reached, under the guidance of a qualified AMI Trainer, a level of competence and skill in the use of Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR), Life Stress Reduction (LSR), and related Applied Metapsychology techniques.
(see Disclaimer of Liability).
Basic Outline and Levels of Certification/Accreditation
While students can begin the Applied Metapsychology learning process from TIR or with lighter Life Stress Reduction techniques (see Fig 1). Certification/Accreditation begins with TIR, which can stand alone from Life Stress Reduction as a full process in and of itself.
The program builds from there, with the next level being a Certified/Accredited Life Stress Reduction Facilitator who has mastered the full range of LSR techniques and who has the case planning ability to build and deliver a Life Stress Reduction Program, tailored to meet the needs of a particular viewer (client). These experienced facilitators are able to work capably with clients who have less ego strength, to build up this strength enabling the viewer to be able to go through the worst of their trauma and/or stress issues, as well as to provide a wider variety of approaches to address any given issue. At the same time they are able to work with clients at the other end of the spectrum, those past or without trauma to address, who have other issues and/or who simply want to grow beyond where they currently are.
If you look at all of Applied Metapsychology programs and techniques as fitting into a house, the first floor of this house would be Life Stress Reduction. The house may be entered from one of two doors: through TIR, or through lighter Life Stress Reduction techniques (taught in the Life Stress Reduction – Case Planning Workshop). The second story of the house represents the Ability Enhancement Facilitator Workshops series and the Applied Metapsychology viewing Curriculum, beyond Life Stress Reduction, where we begin to facilitate personal growth and development of potential.
Facilitator Certification/Accreditation
Once you begin your facilitator internship you will be meeting regularly with your Trainer, or communicating by phone, fax, etc., for supervision as you work with clients. Regular supervision will ensure that you are getting the best value from your internship. Your questions will be answered as you go along and you will get help in deciding which techniques to use and in what order to use them to get the best results for your clients.
You will keep a log of successful session hours, which will be part of your application for Certification/Accreditation and will be reviewed by AMI's Certification/Accreditation Committee. You will make at least one, but probably a few, recordings of actual sessions to go over with your trainer. As well as being a great learning opportunity, doing the recordings will be useful for you and your Trainer to select the one that you will be submitting as another of the application requirements.
Facilitator internships have no set length. When all the application requirements have been completed, the application may be submitted to AMI.
As with all TIR-related professional skills workshops, instructors set their own fees for the internships they deliver. Fees vary from instructor to instructor; however, all TIR-related workshops and internships delivered by certified instructors and technical directors must meet the strict standards set by Applied Metapsychology International. These standards insure that the applicant receives the most value from the program as well as being the governing force that give value to the title obtained as an AMI Certified/Accredited facilitator.
There are Three Levels of Certification/Accreditation Available for Facilitators:

Other forms for Facilitator Certification/Accreditation Internships:
Certification/Accreditation as a Trainer
Just as facilitators complete an internships to become Certified/Accredited, their Trainer has also completed another type of internship in becoming a Certified/Accredited Trainer.
Trainer training is structured as an apprenticeship that will have the apprentice observe a workshop, then co-lead and lead workshops under supervision until they have met all the requirements to apply, including that both the applicant and their trainer have confidence in the applicants ability to handle all aspects of delivering a successful workshop, from both the technical and administrative sides.
If you are interested in training as a Trainer, your first step is to work on Certification/Accreditation as a facilitator and to talk with your Trainer about your desire to be a trainer as well. If your Trainer is Certified/Accredited to oversee your training (see below) they will be able to organize an apprenticeship that will work for both of you, and if not they will be able to refer you to their own Trainer, or another Trainer who can.

Certification/Accreditation as a Senior Trainer - Trainer of Trainers
There are currently three levels of Certification/Accreditation for Senior Trainers. As well as being qualified to deliver the workshops and provide supervision towards facilitator Certification/Accreditation, Senior Trainers are qualified to apprentice others for Certification/Accreditation as Trainers at that level.

Certification/Accreditation at all levels is valid for a period of three years. At the end of three years Certified/Accredited practitioners will need to apply for Re-Certification/Accreditation, documenting at least 21 hours of continuing education in the field (download application).
